As some of you will already have seen, we took a trip to Copenhagen a few weeks ago and I must admit I've fallen in love with the place. Beautifully curated design stores on pretty much every street and gorgeous independent print shops all with friendly and helpful staff to boot. I've come back ready to design some new pieces from our truly inspiring trip. Take a look at some of my favourite places below.
Just a 30min train ride up the coast, Louisianna doesn't disappoint, with a sculpture park situated right on the coast and incredible architecture housing the collection - you could spend all day there. The museum shop was more like a high end design shop with beautiful homewares, clothing, jewellery and books. Needless to say we made a purchase or two.
I'd read about this store before visiting the city and knew we had to find it which proved a little more difficult than we'd expected. The store is on the second and third floor of a huge building in the centre of town but not immediately obvious from street level - however when you reach the second floor you'll find stationary and interior design heaven.
This store was conveniently right next door to our apartment, showcasing beautiful interior design and accessories. Much like most of the design led shops we found, it was carefully curated and beautifully lit. From solid marble boxes to lovely illustrated posters of the city, Dansk had too many things that I couldn't fit in my suitcase. I'd strongly recommend taking a look at their website for just a taster of what they have in store.
Having read about this bar prior to our visit, we thought it'd be easy to find but the thing to remember when you're in Copenhagen, is that the best bars - even with the address are pretty hard to find. We stood in an empty dark courtyard and wondered how we'd got it so wrong, then we heard the unmistakeable noise of a cocktail shaker in the distance. Lo and behold, behind a large black door labelled 'Laboratorium' laid a full cocktail bar full of locals. The barmen wore industrial looking aprons and were more friendly than any bar I've ever been to in London. With such low lighting and delicious cocktails, it's hard to leave this hidden gem - if you do get a chance to visit I'd highly recommend the 'Massos Legacy' made with homemade pineapple syrup, rum and toasted coconut.
We rented an apartment through AirBnB which was absolutely beautiful, I'd recommend it to anyone visiting the city. It was exactly how it looks in the pictures, unfortunately Michael was away when we stayed in his apartment but his neighbour kindly let us in and gave us the keys. In a great location, just a 10 minute walk from the central station we were set up for a perfect weekend to explore the city.
